About Me

Miolka – Accessories for Diabetics with Comfort, Confidence and Style

My name is Kateřina Kolářová, and under the brand Miolka I create handmade belts, cases and sleeves for diabetics – focusing on comfort, safety and feeling good in your own skin. The name Miolka was born from our family’s names – MIlan, OLivie, KAteřina.

How It All Began

I originally worked as a pediatric nurse in the neonatal ICU. I had no sewing experience – until my husband gave me my first sewing machine.

I started sewing while on maternity leave. Because of celiac disease, I spent a lot of time at home, and sewing became my therapy.

The Turning Point

When our daughter Olivia was five years old, she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I began sewing small cases and belts for her so she could feel more comfortable and confident living with diabetes. I shared my creations with other parents – and soon realized they were helping many families, not just ours.

From the beginning, I wanted my daughter to feel special. To do everything like other kids – just with a little advantage.

Miolka Today

Since 2019, I’ve handmade over 4,000 belts and cases. Every piece passes through my hands – with attention to detail, comfort and functionality. I create custom-made solutions for children and adults with designs that make everyday diabetes care a little more beautiful.

Each product must be not only beautiful, but above all, practical and safe. As a former nurse, I know that functionality is just as important as appearance.

An Award That Inspires Me

I was honored to receive 3rd place in the Entrepreneur of the Year – Moravian-Silesian Region competition. It’s a confirmation that honest work, empathy and perseverance matter – and a big “thank you” to everyone who keeps coming back.

Small Inventions from Real Life

Ideas come from daily experience: belts with a window for operating the pump without removing it, backpacks with chest straps, lace garters for discreet wear under dresses, or glucose tablet pouches that won’t spill in a school bag.

The goal is always the same: comfort, confidence and a good feeling about yourself.

What Keeps Me Going

Starting a business was never part of the plan. It was a journey born out of the desire to help.

My dream is that every child starting insulin pump therapy receives their first belt for free – a small beginning of a big reassurance that they’re not alone.
