Health Insurance Benefits for Diabetes Accessories in the Czech Republic (2026)

Czech Health Insurance Benefits for People with Diabetes (2026)

Are you living with diabetes, or caring for a child with type 1 diabetes? This guide explains selected 2026 benefits offered by Czech public health insurance funds, and what to check before buying an insulin pump belt, case or other accessory.

The guide is written in English, but all insurance information below applies to the Czech Republic only.

🇨🇿 Who is this guide for?

This page is intended for English-speaking people who are insured under the Czech public health insurance system. The Czech Republic has several public health insurance funds, each with its own prevention-fund benefits and application requirements.

Living in the Czech Republic or buying from Miolka does not, by itself, make you eligible. If you are insured in another country, check your benefits with your own insurer.

Can Czech insurance benefits cover Miolka accessories?

Miolka makes textile accessories designed to help children and adults carry diabetes-related devices comfortably. These include:

  • Insulin pump belts
  • Insulin pump cases
  • Protective sleeves for glucose sensors
  • Small backpacks and waist bags
  • Thigh bands for carrying an insulin pump
  • Cases for glucose meters and insulin pens

Some Czech health insurance funds provide contributions towards specified medical devices, supplies or diabetes-related activities. However, a textile accessory is not automatically an eligible medical device or reimbursable purchase.

Important: ask before you buy

The insurer must decide whether your specific purchase is eligible under its current programme. A benefit for an insulin pump, infusion set or other medical supply does not guarantee payment for a Miolka belt, bag or case. We recommend requesting written confirmation from your insurer before placing an order.

RBP – zdravotní pojišťovna (213)

Czech Republic
CZK 1,000 Standard prevention-fund allowance; for people with diabetes, eligible transferred allowances may increase the total to CZK 3,000.

RBP offers prevention-fund benefits to its policyholders, including a programme for people with diabetes.

  • The standard prevention-fund limit is CZK 1,000 per year.
  • Under the relevant rules, up to two other RBP policyholders may transfer unused eligible allowances, bringing the diabetes benefit to a maximum of CZK 3,000.
  • RBP specifies application deadlines, payment-document requirements and transfer-consent rules.

Miolka accessories: RBP's programme should not be interpreted as automatic approval of every textile pump accessory. Ask RBP to assess the exact product before purchase.

  • The published diabetes list includes glucose meters, test strips and certain insulin delivery supplies.

VZP ČR (111)

  • Up to CZK 1,500 for selected rehabilitation or spa-style therapies for eligible people with diabetes, regardless of age.

How to check eligibility and apply

Follow these steps before purchasing an item with the intention of claiming an insurance benefit.

1

Check your fund's rules

Find the relevant 2026 benefit and read the eligibility conditions, spending categories and application deadlines.

2

Ask about the exact product

If a textile belt, case or sensor sleeve is not explicitly covered, contact the fund before buying. Written confirmation is helpful.

3

Keep your proof of payment

If the purchase is eligible, retain the receipt or invoice and any required medical or other documents.

4

Submit your claim on time

Use the fund's approved application channel and comply with its deadlines. Miolka cannot submit or approve the claim for you.

A useful question to ask your insurer

“Does your 2026 prevention-fund programme cover a separately purchased textile belt or case used to carry an insulin pump? The item is an accessory for carrying the pump, not the insulin pump itself, an infusion set or a reservoir.”

Include the product name, link and price when you contact your insurer.
